They haul in dirt and sticks. They chew on elbows and cables. They cause outages.
Power utilities and their field contractors are well aware of the expensive damage that occurs inside electrical pad-mount transformers when invaded from beneath. Rodents, snakes, fire ants and other undesireables can burrow up through earthen gaps into transformer pad enclosures, hauling in dirt and debris to make nests. Eventually their messes or they themselves manage to cross the phases, causing service disruptions. Moisture and gases can also seep up into enclosures and cause corrosion. Typical concrete and grout fixes are ineffective. The industry needs a simple solution for field crews to seal transformer pad openings.
PRODUCT SOLUTION
New InstaGrout™ Sealant Barrier makes sealing transformer pad openings simple. InstaGrout helps prevent outages and service disruptions by creating a resilient and impermeable barrier that keeps out moisture and stops rodents, snakes, and insects from burrowing up through earthen gaps into transformer pad enclosures.

New Polywater® InstaGrout™ Sealant Barrier with Polymer Matrix Technology makes sealing transformer pad openings simple. It helps prevent outages by creating a resilient, impermeable barrier to moisture, rodents, snakes, and insects that enter through earthen gaps into transformer pad enclosures.

InstaGrout mixes easily on site without water. Crews combine pre-measured components and shake or stir only 30 seconds before pouring into the transformer pad opening. The self-leveling mixture spreads evenly throughout the pad opening, expanding around complex conduit stub-ups. Minimal site prep is required.

InstaGrout adheres to fiberglass, concrete, and polymer pads. It tolerates environmental extremes and effectively seals uneven ground. Unlike concrete, it will not settle, crack, or cave in. InstaGrout's strong, lightweight seal is compatible with cable jacket materials and will not corrode metal.
  • Creates a strong, resilient, lightweight seal
  • Seals uneven ground
  • Tolerates environmental extremes
  • Flows and self levels before expanding
  • Easy to mix and apply, no water required
  • Sturdy, cross-linked structure will not crumble or cave-in
  • Reduces outages caused by animals, insects, and corrosion
