A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #875

Polywater UPR Utility Pole Repair Sealant has ideal compressive strength for wood pole restoration. Compressive strength is essentially a measurement of the cured foam's structural integrity. UPR's compressive strength is matched to that of the most common types of wood used for poles. This is a significant competitive advantage over alternative products on the market.

It is commonly understood that an essential function of a pole repair product is to restore the structural integrity of the pole lost when a woodpecker chips out a huge hole. To accomplish this the repair product's compressive strength must be at least as strong as the wood itself. Oddly, though, it should not be much stronger than the wood, or flex spots are created in the pole that can lead to breakage. This fact is not intuitively understood, and can be a selling feature for UPR and a teachable moment for your customers.

Poles must be able to sway uniformly in the wind. If one spot is weaker--as with woodpecker damage--the pole can break. However, if one spot is too stiff--as with a more rigid repair sealant--the pole can also break. This is not theoretical; it happens. Some UPR competitors offer products with higher compressive strength. This is not a valid selling feature.

UPR is closely matched to the strength of the wood. It is the "Goldilocks" of utility pole repair products.

The Joke
Basketball Playoffs Joke.   So it's Game 7 of the NBA Finals and a man makes his way to his seat at center court. He sits down and notices that the seat next to him is empty. He leans over and asks his neighbor if someone is sitting there. The elderly gentleman responds, "No, the seat is empty." The first man exclaims, "I can hardly believe that! Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the NBA Finals and not use it?" The elderly neighbor responds, "Well, you see, the seat is mine, but my wife passed away and this is the first NBA Finals we haven't been to together." The first man responds, "Oh my, I'm sorry to hear that. Wasn't there anyone else, a friend or relative, that could've taken that seat with you?" The elderly neighbor responds, "Nope, they're all at the funeral."
