![]() BonDuit® Evaluation |
          | Unwilling to accept Polywater's claims at face value, a serious customer intent on performing due diligence undertook a formal evaluation of BonDuit Conduit Adhesive prior to formalizing large-scale usage of the product. Afterward they reported their findings to us. "It is our intention at this point to use your BonDuit product to connect PVC couplings to polyethylene high density pipes. This is to try and replace mechanical couplings that are too bulky. We undertook tests on April 9. The procedure to connect the pipes was followed as per the installation instruction provided in the kit. One of the couplings attached to a 1.25" (32mm) pipe--after three hours of curing--was placed under tension up to 220 lbs. (100 kg), and the polyethylene pipes did not pull out of the coupling. We drilled a hole through the one polyethylene pipe and connected a bolt and chain to it. The other side we connected with a metal sock. "After one hour of pulling at 220 lbs. (100 kg) the pipe itself started to give way at the drilled hole, but there was no movement at the BonDuit Adhesive seal. The pipe was left under tension from 4:00 p.m., April 9th to 9:00 a.m., April 14th--almost five full days. There was no pulling away from the PVC coupling. The pressure did drop down to 165 lbs. (75 kg); however this was due to stretching of the polyethylene pipe at the hole that was drilled. There was no pulling away from the PVC coupling, only slight stretching of the pipe. We were working in temperatures of between 72°F to 77°F (22°C to 25°C). The adhesive starts to harden after five minutes in the nozzle, which means that for our application we would use one nozzle per PVC coupling (both sides). Based on the abovementioned tests I accept that we have followed the procedures correctly and that, as per your installation instructions, the setting time is five minutes." Apparently Polywater's claims about the strength of BonDuit are correct. This example is not as dramatic a testimonial as the famous Smoking Tires Demo from a few years ago, but the independent conclusion is the same: BonDuit bonds PE pipe to PVC couplings like crazy! |
![]() The Joke |
                              | Government Authority.   A DEA officer stopped at a ranch in Texas and talked with an old rancher. He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs." The rancher said, "Well, okay, but do not go in that field over there," as he pointed out the location. The DEA officer verbally exploded, saying, "Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me." Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the rancher. "Look at this badge. Do you see this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish ... on any land ... no questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?" The rancher nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores. A short time later, the old rancher heard loud screams coming from the direction of the field and saw the DEA officer running for his life, chased by the rancher's enormous champion bull. With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it seemed likely that he'd get gored before reaching safety. The officer was clearly terrified. The rancher threw down his tools, ran to the fence and yelled at the top of his lungs: "Your badge! Show him your badge!!" |
