A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #780

Polywater has received another excellent testimonial on PowerPatch Sealant, this one relating to its effectiveness on an oil-filled cable leak repair. TVA contacted Polywater for a solution to an oil leak from a component on which previous repair attempts--including an alternative sealant--had failed. After preparing the surface with Type TR cleaner, PowerPatch was applied.

"Thanks to everyone for supporting the oil leak repair on the Unit 4 "C" phase oil-filled cable termination!!! Please pass along our appreciation to your employees. The repair of the oil leak on Unit 4 "C" phase 161 kV oil-filled cable termination was completed on Tuesday. The leak was identified on Saturday, potential repair materials were identified on Saturday and further evaluated on Monday. Material orders were placed on Monday and materials received on Tuesday. The repair required support from multiple employees, construction partner employees, distributor employees, and material vendors. We utilized the Polywater “PowerPatch” product. I would like to lift the top half of the corona shield next week and inspect the patch area again. Thanks." --Valarie Smith, Tennessee Valley Authority, Electrical System Engineering

In the picture at left you can just make out the gray PowerPatch seal in the very center of the unit beneath the C-clamp. PowerPatch excels at sealing persistent oil and gas leaks from electrical components such as transformers, PILC, and pothead cable terminations. Available in cups or cartridges, and in regular or slow-cure formula, PowerPatch can solve your customer's most vexing leak problems.

The Joke
Golf Tales.   1) By Lee Trevino: Why I mow my own yard--a true story. One day, shortly after joining the PGA tour in 1965, Lee Trevino, a professional golfer and married man, was at his home in Dallas, Texas mowing his front lawn, as he always did. A lady driving by in a big, shiny Cadillac stopped in front of his house, lowered the window and asked, “Excuse me, do you speak English?" Lee responded, “Yes Ma'am, I do." The lady then asked, “What do you charge to do yard work?” Lee said, "Well, the lady in this house lets me sleep with her." The lady hurriedly put the car into gear and sped off. 2) A golfer on the pro tour shared a personal experience with close friends about drinking and driving: "As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from an occasional social session over the years. A couple of nights ago I was out for an evening with friends and had a couple of cocktails. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I’ve never done before; I took a cab home. Sure enough, I passed a police road block but, since it was a cab, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise ... as I have never driven a cab before and am not sure where I got it or what to do with it now that it’s in my garage. Any ideas?"
