A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #754

In 330 BC the Greek philosopher Aristotle was quoted as saying, “Nature abhors a vacuum” ... which explains why air is so anxious to rush into a newly opened can of peanuts ... and why Polywater's Electrical Division developed new Splice Shield Sealant for "taped" splices.

You see, the 3M Company enjoyed significant market share with its sales of Scotchkote, an electrical coating they describe as "a sealant and bonding compound intended for use as a moisture and corrosion resistant outer seal on vinyl tape applications which are subjected to excessive amounts of oil. It is designed to improve the weather resistance of the taped splice. Sales prohibited in some states."

Scotchkote is banned from sale in 17 states because it contains MEK/toluene, a carrier solvent with high VOC (volatile organic compounds). 3M offers a replacement with an acetone substitute, but acetone is highly flammable. This puts 3M's market share in jeopardy in those locations and creates a vacuum in the market, which Polywater's laboratory naturally rushed to fill by developing Splice Shield.

As a waterproofing sealant for taped electrical splices, Splice Shield is an eco-friendlier alternative to Scotchkote. It is banned in zero states. It's packaged in an easy-to-use self-dispensing cartridge--no tool required! Only one application is needed for a thick protective coating to cover taped splices. It dries quickly and can be direct buried even while still tacky. It leaves a thick flexible coating that offers excellent protection against oil, water and corrosion. It contains no dangerous low-TLV or highly flammable solvents, and is safer to use around torches or in enclosed environments. It's available in a kit (catalog #CS-KIT) containing all the materials needed to seal multiple splices.

Because it fills a void, Aristotle would've loved new high-performance Splice Shield, and surely would've adorned his toga with the logo (this was before tattoos).

Next week we'll discuss the features and advantages of Splice Shield in more depth.

The Joke
Proof That Men Have Great Memories.   A woman wakes during the night to find that her husband is not in bed. She dons her robe and goes downstairs to look for him. She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a hot cup of coffee in front of him. He appears to be in deep thought, just staring at the wall. She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of his coffee. "What's the matter, dear?" she whispers as she steps into the room, "Why are you down here at this time of night?" The husband looks up from his coffee and says, "It's the twentieth anniversary of the day we met." She can't believe he has remembered and starts to tear up. The husband continues, "Do you remember twenty years ago when we started dating? I was eighteen and you were only sixteen," he says solemnly. Once again, the wife is touched to tears thinking that her husband is so caring and sensitive. "Yes, I do," she replies. The husband pauses. The words were not coming easily. "Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my car?" he said. "Yes, I remember," said the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him. The husband continued. "Do you remember when he shoved the shotgun in my face and said, 'Either you marry my daughter or I'll send you to prison for twenty years?'" "I remember that, too," she replied softly. He wiped another tear from his cheek and said, "I would have gotten out today."
