Friday Fax
A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #731

This week's Friday Fax is about the Polywater Laboratory's latest training video. We intended to hire professional spokesmen to introduce it, but Wilford Brimley and Rollie Fingers were unavailable. Then we discovered that our backup choices--George Custer and Snidely Whiplash--aren't even alive.

So we improvised. Today's message is sponsored by the Friday Fax editor's Wisconsin-based grandchildren (there may be too many hormones in the cheese).

As Colton (on the right) is explaining to attentive older brother Parker, this latest video demonstrates a PowerPatch Leak Repair on a transformer fin. The 4-minute clip provides a fast-paced overview of the basic steps involved in sealing a transformer leak using the EPCT cartridge package option:
  • Precisely pinpoint the leak location
  • Brush or sand away loose material and oxide
  • Clean the area with a Type TR wipe
  • Knead the PowerPatch putty for 2 minutes
  • Press and hold putty over leak for 2 to 3 minutes
  • Load and prime the PowerPatch sealant cartridge
  • Overcoat the putty with sealant 1" to 2" beyond the leak
  • Spread and smooth the sealant with tongue depressor
  • Spray paint the seal if desired
PowerPatch holds 20 psi after 15 minutes cure time, and 100 psi when fully cured. It's effective on oil and FS6 gas, and can be used for transformers, PILC cables and lead splicing. A slow-cure option is available for larger applications.

The spokesmen aren't professional. The video isn't either. But both can effectively help sell your message on the use of PowerPatch to maintain transformers.

The Joke
Bob and the Blonde.   Bob, a handsome dude, walked into a sports bar around 9:58 pm. He sat down next to a blonde at the bar and stared up at the television. The 10 p.m. news was coming on. The news crew was covering the story of a man on the ledge of a large building, preparing to jump. The blonde looked at Bob and said, "Do you think he'll jump?" Bob said, "You know, I bet he'll jump." The blonde replied, "Well, I bet he won't." Bob placed a twenty-dollar bill on the bar and said, "You're on!" Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy on the ledge did a swan dive off the building, falling to his death. The blonde was very upset, but willingly handed her twenty-dollar bill to Bob, saying, "Fair's fair. Here's your money." Bob replied, "I can't take your money. I saw this earlier on the 5 p.m. news, and so I knew he would jump." The blonde replied, "I did too, but didn't think he'd do it again." Bob took the money.
