A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #705

Imported Toy
Polywater has defended itself against many newcomers in the cable pulling lube market over time. Each promoted their product as superior for one or more reasons--many of which were ... interesting, if not entirely relevant to whether or not they eased cable installation. Examples included the "Our lube is blue too" response to Dyna-Blue's success; the false "Ours is the first clear lube in history" claim; and our personal favorite: "Our lube is made from cabbages."

Here we go again.

This time the competitive "threat" comes from a Chinese import. After undoubtedly exhaustive market research a Chinese manufacturer has identified Polywater as a potential cable lube user, not a competitor. They keep spamming us with their product offering, which includes such compelling claims as:
  • This product is an excellent and utility lube.
  • It is use for pull cable in room temperature.
  • It could stretch the cable in normal temperature.
  • It can reduce the tension when the cable across the pipe and the corner.
  • It has great lubrication to greatly reduce pull.
  • It has no pollution.
  • Please wash with water or soap.
  • Smell: No off flavor.
The application instructions, which claim to bring "considerable economic and social benefits," state: "Put it on pipe and cable surface by hand or brush, also immit it to the pipe inner as pipe inserting lube; use water or soap water to wash the washed goods after use it and have no adhesion feeling."

Let's hope imported cable lube is safer than imported toys ... and that the manufacturer invested more in formulating and testing than in translation services. For customers who eat through their nose and seek pollution-free lube to stretch their cables for that room-temperature pull across the corner--and who aren't concerned about trade deficits--this could be just the thing.

For other customers we reiterate that Polywater Lubricants are Made in America and that we add no pollution to them. We're thinking of replacing our "We Bottle Solutions" motto with something catchy, like, "Polywater: Pollution Free Since '73."

The Joke
The Wit of Will Rogers.   1) Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco. 2) Never kick a cow chip on a hot day. 3) There are two theories to arguing with a woman ... neither works. 4) Never miss a good chance to shut up. 5) Always drink upstream from the herd. 6) If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. 7) The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket. 8) There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves. 9) Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. 10) If you're riding ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there. 11) Letting the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back. 12) After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut. 13) Eventually you'll reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it. 14) The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for. 15) Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. 16) When you're dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra. 17) You know you're getting old when everything either dries up or leaks. 18) I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top. 19) One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been. 20) Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable. 21) Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf. 22) If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you're old.
