A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #669

Polywater Builds Strong Transformers 4 Ways. Our innovative sealants line has expanded. We now offer four distinct products for repairing and maintaining transformers (among other things). Be sure to clarify which problem you're addressing and which product you're pitching when making calls or fielding questions:
  1. PowerPatch seals oil and gas coolant leaks. Coolant leaks can occur virtually anywhere on pole- or pad-mounted transformers: fins, bolts, doors, welds, rust spots, punctures, pipes, connections, holding tanks, etc. PowerPatch quickly and permanently halts coolant loss and environmental consequences on-site, avoiding costly service outages and equipment removal.

  2. Pad N Pole seals pad holes and cracks. Pad-mount transformers are placed on bases (fiberglass, polyethylene, metal, concrete, composite, etc.) that are often damaged by lawn equipment, forklifts, vehicles, etc. The holes can lead to service outages and safety hazards. Pad N Pole effectively repairs this damage on-site without de-energizing the transformer or replacing the pad.

  3. InstaGrout seals pad enclosure windows. These are the openings to the ground inside pad-mount transformers where cables enter the enclosure from underground. InstaGrout seals the earth around the installed ducts, preventing rodents, insects, snakes, and moisture from burrowing or seeping in. It out-performs heavy concrete and grout, which require water for mixing, and often crack and fail.

  4. FST Foam seals incoming conduits. Pad-mount transformers are often fed by cables in ducts rising vertically inside the enclosure from underground. The ducts must be sealed around the cables at their end point inside the transformer to prevent insects, animals, and moisture from gaining access. The duct putty and aerosol foams often used to seal these simply don't work. FST does.
PowerPatch and Pad N Pole are repair sealants, while InstaGrout and FST Foam are preventative measures. Utilities that utilize these four sealants offer more reliable service to their customers and enjoy longer transformer service life.

The Joke
The Jigsaw Puzzle. A little silver-haired lady calls her neighbor and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a massive jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started." Her neighbor asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?" The little silver-haired lady says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster." Her neighbor decides to go over and help with the puzzle. The old woman lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster." He takes her hand and says, "Secondly, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then," he said with a deep sigh, "Let's put all the Corn Flakes back in the box."
