A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #646

Sales tips make you a better salesperson. The best kind are those that help you demonstrate the depth of your product knowledge. With that in mind we share these two tips not included in product flyers or application instructions. They'll help you answer customer questions and position yourself as a valuable resource.

How to Store Partially Used Foam Duct Sealant Cartridges: Okay, we lied; this tip is on page 3 of the FST application instructions, but too many users (and reps!) don't read that far--and this is important. FST Foam is sensitive to sun, moisture, and heat. Advise your customers to extend the life of their partially used FST cartridges by returning them to their protective foil pouches and taping them shut. Place the foil bags in a cool, dry, dark place until ready to use. This prevents exposure to moisture and degradation by UV light, and helps ensure that the component materials stay fresh up to a month after initial use.

Timing the Putty Stick Hand Application: Both the PowerPatch® Transformer Leak Repair and AirRepair® Pressurized Cable Repair sealants share a common process: application of a putty to produce a temporary seal. This holds the leaking transformer oil, SF6 gas, or pressurized air long enough for the second and permanent sealant to be applied. The question is, how long to hold that putty in place by hand until it's cured? The answer varies on many factors (size of seal, ambient temp, surface temp, etc.). But it can be hard to tell exactly what is going on beneath your hand ... and releasing the putty too early to check on it can cause the seal to fail. This field trick can help. Before applying the mixed putty to seal the leak with your hand, break off a small amount and make a ball of putty. Set this aside to cure separately, then apply and hold the rest of the putty in place to make the seal. Occasionally poking the little ball with a free hand tells you when it has hardened and cured. That's the cue that the putty seal under the other hand is now ready to be overlaid with the PowerPatch or AirRepair second stage sealants.

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
More Blonde Jokes.   1) Two blondes were walking through the woods and they came across some tracks. The first blond said "These look like deer tracks," and the other one said, "No, they look like moose tracks." They argued and argued for a while and they were still arguing when the train hit them. 2) Two blondes were in a parking lot trying to unlock the door of their Mercedes with a coat hanger. They tried and tried to get the door open, but they couldn't. The girl with the coat hanger stopped for a moment to catch her breath, and her friend said anxiously, "Hurry up! It's starting to rain and the top is down." 3) Hear about the blonde that got an AM radio? It took her a month to realize she could play it at night. 4) Did you hear what happened to the blonde ice hockey team? They drowned in Spring training. 5) What did the blonde say when she saw the sign in front of the YMCA? "Look! they spelled MACYS wrong." 6) Why do blondes like lightning? They think someone is taking their picture. 7) Why did the blonde scale the chain-link fence? To see what was on the other side. 8) How do you make a blonde laugh on Saturday? Tell her a joke on Wednesday. 9) Why did the blonde stare at frozen orange juice? Because it said "concentrate."
