Another Happy Customer! Typically we market Polywater +Silicone NN as the best pulling lubricant choice for customers who unfortunately have water in their conduits. Then along came one who wanted the water there on purpose. Sharon Hindahl, Polywater Inside Sales Manager, took a call from a Pull-Planner 3000 customer trying to engineer a 2,760' ship-to-shore pull of 2" cable into HDD duct installed underwater for the Navy. To reduce buoyancy and counteract exterior pressure they planned to fill the duct with a mixture of NN and water, and then add more NN to the cable as it entered the duct. Sharon got this response when she followed up on this unique installation: Dear Ms. Hindahl, thanks for your interest. The job went well and the portion requiring the use of NN Lubricant is now complete. Our government customer is happy. My personal unscientific estimate is that your product reduced the pulling forces to 15% of what I had calculated. This is obviously a big deal to us. The product mixed easily in fresh water with little mechanical agitation. Our next job is twice as long as this one (about 1-mile) and we now have confidence that we can actually do what our staff tell our customers we can do. Thanks for your professional advice and help on this matter." Sincerely, R. Gauss P.E. Way to go, NN. Way to go, Sharon! |
![]() Lube Czar? |
We're not sure that the President intends to appoint a Lube Czar, but we believe strongly that such a position should exist. To that end American Polywater is lobbying the White House and has submitted the names of Polywater representatives as potential candidates. Basically, we submitted the entire list of all Polywater agents because we think they all deserve recognition for their hard work and professionalism; however, a couple of stand-out names high on the list include Jim Cooke (Utility Service Agency Inc, Wake Forest, NC) and Dan Saver (Saver Sales, Lexington, KY). Their recent efforts placed Polywater LZ on standards at the monolithic American Electric Power (AEP) for its underground network cable system. This is a sizable feat that has already produced sizable orders--with more to come in the future. Congratulations to Jim and Dan on their nomination. We hope to report the appointment of one of these fine men following the usual vetting process. |
![]() The Joke |
Why Parents Drink. A father passes his son's bedroom and is surprised to see the bed made and everything picked up. He sees an envelope propped up on the pillow addressed to "Dad." With trepidation he opens the envelope and reads the letter. Dear Dad: It's with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I've found real passion with Stacy and she is so nice. But I knew you wouldn't approve of her because of all her piercings, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes, and the fact that she's much older than I am. But there's more ... Dad, she's pregnant. Stacy says we'll be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has enough firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing our own and trading it with the other people that live nearby for cocaine and ecstasy. In the meantime we'll pray that science finds a cure for AIDS so Stacy can get better. She deserves it. Don't worry, Dad. I'm fifteen and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure that we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren. Love, your son John. PS. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the report card that's in my center desk drawer. I love you. Call me when it's safe to come home. |
