APC introduces new FiberKleen™ Type FC™ for fiber end face cleaning.

Introducing a new telcom cleaner: FiberKleen Type FC.   FiberKleen is not for OSP fusion splicing, it's for fiber terminations in buildings or wherever ferrules and patch panels are used in quantity.   It's for the new installation and maintenance required in the rapidly growing FTTx area.   Here's why:

A fiber connection is accomplished with a male jack--the ferrule--plugging into a female receptacle--the bulkhead.   Each component contains a polished glass fiber end face.   The two faces meet to allow light transmission.   The slower 1310 and 1550 nm frequencies (speed of fiber optic data transmission in nanometers) are more forgiving of impurities on end faces.   Light is able to re-gather successfully and pass data.   However, high-speed data flows of the newer 1625 nm standard are vulnerable to degradation by even the tiniest bit of grime.   Surfaces must be cleaner than ever for fiber systems to work optimally.   Any trace of cable pik, dust, finger oil, or inferior cleaner residue can lead to significant signal loss.   A cleaner is needed to meet such modern standards.   FiberKleen is it.

FiberKleen Type FC is a unique solvent blend that cleans completely, leaves no residue, and evaporates quickly.   It has no alcohol or water content, and leaves no streaks.   It's available in two convenient packages--a solvent-tip pen and 2-oz pump spray.   The FiberKleen line includes a lint-free, high-quality towel used to clean ferrules, bulkheads, and end faces.   The 50-count dispenser keeps towels safe from contamination and fits easily in tool kits, bags, and shirt pockets.   The engineered design of the specially woven towel traps dirt and debris, making cleaning easier and more effective.   Also available are 2.5 mm swabs for easy, pin-point cleaning.   Components are also available in an all-inclusive kit.   Bonus feature: all products are non-hazardous for air shipment--not even alcohol can make that claim.   Here are the basic selling points:
  • Maximizes connectivity
  • Optimized for 1625 nm standard
  • Leaves no residue
  • Evaporates quickly
  • No streaking
  • Convenient packaging
  • Non-hazardous for air shipment

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
Questions to Ponder.   1) Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are going dead?   2) Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough money?   3) Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?   4) Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?   5) Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?   6) Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?   7) Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?   8) Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?   9) If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?   10) Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use, the bubbles are always white?   11) Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?   12) Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?   13) Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?   14) Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?   15) How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?   16) Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table, you always manage to knock something else over?   17) In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?   18) How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?
