A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #530

An upgraded version of the Pull-Planner™ will be announced soon.
Since the first introduction of the wildly successful Pull-Planner Software years ago, APC has continually struggled to correct a major misconception about the program.   Many believe that its sole function is to "calculate lubricant quantity for a pull."   It does this, but that's just a minor feature.   The main function is to calculate cable pulling tensions, which can help determine the feasibility of a pull and therefore aid conduit system design.   The tension equations are complex and cumbersome for manual calculation--perfectly suited for computer assistance.   The Pull-Planner also calculates sidewall pressures, jam ratios, clearance percentages, optimal pull direction, and much more.   Don't sell this product short.   You don't need to be an expert user, but you should understand its basic utility.   An upgraded version of the Pull-Planner will be announced soon.   Expect to hear a lot (and say a lot) about the Pull-Planner in the months to come.

It's important for there to be good communication about the status of questionable accounts--especially in difficult economic times.
Bad cop moment.   Because agency agreements state that earnings are based on net sales, product returns and allowances result in offsets against commissions.   One reason is to protect manufacturers from reps and customers colluding to earn commissions by placing artificially large orders, which are later returned.   Another--and the reason for today's article--is that reps are close to the market and individual customers, and may have knowledge pivotal to good credit decisions.   No one benefits when sales are allowed to continue to financially unsound customers.   If the sale is returned or the customer goes belly up, the rep shares the pain to the extent of their commission.   For this reason it's important for there to be good communication about the status of questionable accounts--especially in times of recession.   If you're aware of slowing payables, early actions to forestall bankruptcy, or other signs of concern at accounts in your territory, please share that information with your regional manager.   Early warning allows us to adjust credit policy that could prevent good money being sent after bad.   To quote RoboCop, "Thank you for your cooperation."

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
More Motivational Poster Truth.   Risks: If you never try out anything new, you'll miss out on many of life's great disappointments.   Stupidity: Quitters never win and winners never quit, but those who never win and never quit are idiots.   Problems: No matter how great and destructive your problems may seem now, remember, you've probably only seen the tip of them.   Underachievement: The tallest blade of grass is the first to be cut by the lawnmower.   Defeat: For every winner, there are dozens of losers.   Odds are you're one of them.   Dare to Slack: When birds fly in the right formation, they need only exert half the effort.   Even in nature, teamwork results in collective laziness.   Ineptitude: If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly.   Overconfidence: Before you attempt to beat the odds, be sure you could survive the odds beating you.   Conformity: When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other.   Do it Later: The early worm is for the birds.
