A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #528

Avoid allowing APC's spray lubricants to be labeled as simply silicone lubes.
Recently we warned against use of the "E" word when selling APC's sealants and adhesives.   Here's a similar admonition for spray cable lubricants: avoid using the "S" word.   Never allow Polywater SPY or Polywater FTTX to be labeled as simply "silicone" lubes.   Though they do contain silicone, they also contain many other things critical to their performance.   It's their field performance and unique application characteristics that make them special, not a general chemistry term.   Allowing them to be characterized as silicone lubes runs the risk of having them mis-categorized.   There are products--namely Polywater Plus Silicone vs. Lubaduk®--that have been marketed since day one as silicone-based lubes, but these are very different in function and application.   It does us no good to have these very different lubricants confused as similar.   It also allows low-buck competitors to squirt a meaningless eye-dropper's worth of silicone into their vat and claim, "Contains Silicone!"   Instead, describe them as having Unique Functional Chemistry or Proprietary Lubricating Agents, and then sell their spray application and superior performance.

Each time you quote or sell a big quantity of cable or conduit, you become aware of a big opportunity for cable lube or cable cleaner.
Sales Tip: Does your agency represent a wire or conduit line?   If so, each time you quote or sell a big quantity, you become aware of a big opportunity for cable pulling or cable blowing lubricant.   Institutionalize a program of quoting lube on these sales.   The reps that consistently do so, consistently sell more Polywater.   The same principle applies to cable cleaners.   Large wire or conduit sales generally mean lots of splicing ahead.   In essence, this is your opportunity to say, "Would you like fries with that cable, Sir?"   Asking about the need for lubes and cleaners on these inquiries should be as routine for both your inside and outside personnel as a department store cashier's duty to smile and say, "Have a nice day."

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
More Motivational Poster Truth.   Responsibility: No single raindrop believes it is to blame for the flood.   Limitations: Until you spread your wings, you'll have no idea how far you can walk.   Power: Power corrupts.   Absolute power corrupts absolutely, but it rocks absolutely too.   Beauty: If you're attractive enough on the outside, people will forgive you for being irritating to the core.   Indifference:   It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.   Disloyalty: There comes a time when every team must learn to make individual sacrifices.   Bitterness: Never be afraid to share your dreams with the world, because there's nothing the world loves more than the taste of really sweet dreams.   Goals: It's best to avoid standing directly between a competitive jerk and his goals.   Hazards: There is an island of opportunity in the middle of every difficulty, but miss that and you're pretty much doomed.   Intimidation: No one can make you feel inferior without your consent, but you'd be a fool to withhold that from your superiors.
