Issue #519

Seminar syllabus for live-line maintenance products.
Electrical agents take heed.   APC has written a Seminar Syllabus for proper maintenance of rubber safety goods.   The presentation, which can be performed at a utility location or anywhere else you schedule it, will cover how and why to clean rubber goods such as grounds, blankets, sleeves, gloves, cover-ups, line hose, and hot-line jumpers.   Telescopic and articulating truck boom maintenance is also covered.   This seminar, which goes by the unexciting but highly descriptive title, "Live-Line Tools, Rubber Goods & Boom Truck Maintenance Training," is a great way to demonstrate APC's full assortment of live-line products: S-1 Hot Stick Wipes, B-1 Boom Wipes, W-1 Wax & Buff Wipes, and RBG Rubber Goods Cleaner.   Take a look at the syllabus and contact your factory salesperson to schedule presentations in your territory.

How does Polywater SPY Lubricant work?   Jeff Ericson, APC's Western Regional Sales Manager, thinks that tiny, well-armed, covert molecules sneak into the duct, snoop around for sticky spots, and "fix" them.   He believes that microscopic inspection of a lubricated conduit would reveal thousands of unfortunate "friction carcasses."   He's able to sell a lot of product with that belief, so we try not to dissuade him.   He fanatically lobbied for a 7-ounce package of SPY Lube--to be called, naturally, catalog #SPY-007--but 7-ounce bottles don't exist.   Actually, Jeff is just a hair off the mark; the real secret to SPY Lube's excellent performance is APC's exclusive thin-film lubricating technology, which will be the subject of a future Friday Fax article.   Until then, do as Jeff does.

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
IQ Test.   There is a very, very tall coconut tree and there are four animals, a lion, a chimpanzee, a giraffe, and a squirrel, who pass by.   They decide to compete to see who is the fastest to get a banana off the tree.   Who do you guess will win?   Your answer will reflect your personality.   So think carefully.   Try and answer within 30 seconds.   Got your answer?   Now, keep reading to see the analysis.   If your answer is: Lion = you're dull.   Chimpanzee = you're a moron.   Giraffe = you're a complete idiot.   Squirrel = you're just hopelessly stupid.   Why?   Because a coconut tree doesn't have bananas.   Obviously you're stressed and overworked.   You should take some time off and relax.
