A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #496

Polywater® LZ has non-combustible dried residue.
Kids like to play a game in which they jump around on the furniture, avoiding falls into the imaginary "burning lava" on the surrounding floor.   When they grow up and become engineers, they get to play a more realistic game: writing specifications to keep the "burning lava" out of conduit systems.   This "lava" is in the form of dried wax-based pulling lubricant residue that, when exposed to the heat of a nearby fire, can ignite, liquefy, and flow through ducts, potentially spreading fire to other areas of a building and effectively negating the safety aims of fire-retardant cables.   Long-time APC reps are well versed on this matter in selling Polywater J, but we now revisit the issue because new Polywater LZ has equally non-combustible residue.   Thus far we've focused primarily on LZ's unique and exclusive compatibility with the newfangled LSZH/LSHF cables on the market.   But compatibility is only one of LZ's fundamental characteristics to keep in mind.   A second is its non-combustible dried residue.   It simply makes no sense to use combustible materials to install expensive fire-retardant cables.   Review the subject in depth with our Residue Combustibility Paper.

American Polywater's environmental statement is now online.
As it turns out, underneath it all, Polywater® is actually green.   With increasing frequency APC is fielding requests for so-called "green certification" documentation for environmentally sensitive projects.   Eventually you, too, may be asked.   So now we've made our documentation available to all by uploading our Environmental Statement to the website.   Included are active links to related resources such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards from the U.S. Green Building Council) and Green Seal (an independent, non-profit environmental organization) certification; RoHS (the EU's Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive), CARB (California Air Resources Board), and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) compliance; MSD sheets; and more.   In case you forget that the page URL is "green.pdf," the statement is linked at the bottom of the homepage, as well as the Engineer's Corner and Sitemap.

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
More On Getting Old.   1) An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and told her preacher she had two final requests.   First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart.   "Wal-Mart?" the preacher exclaimed, "Why Wal-Mart?"   She said, "Because then I'll be sure my daughters will visit me twice a week."   2) The old guy tells his friend, "My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.   Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be."   3) Elderly tip: to prevent sagging skin, just eat until the wrinkles stretch out.   4) A doctor asks his elderly patient why he's come in: "Because I've started making the same noises as my coffee maker."   5) An old woman looks in her shopping cart and says to her husband, "Jeez, half the stuff in here is for 'Fast Relief!'"   6) Senility Prayer: Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.
