A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #482

New Polywater® LZ is a high-performance, fire-safe, specification-grade lubricant that is compatible with LSZH cables.
APC's groundbreaking research on lubricant compatibility with LSZH/LSHF cables (low-smoke zero-halogen or halogen-free) goes beyond leading the industry.   It conceivably saves lives.   This class of hybrid cables--developed to reduce toxic smoke--is intended to reduce fatalities in building fires.   Though the technology varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, the cables are, as a group, problematic in that they're especially "sticky," requiring high-performance lubrication for installation.   Unfortunately, existing commercial lubricants are incompatible with the majority of them.   Many popular brands, including Ideal's Yellow 77®, literally destroy some LSZH cable types.   APC's exhaustive research resulted in the formulation of new Polywater LZ, a high-performance, fire-safe, specification-grade lubricant that is compatible with LSZH cables.   The introduction of LZ allows these important life-saving cables to function and flourish, benefiting all of society.

New Polywater® LZ
APC's basic criteria in the development of LZ included:
  • Lubricant and residue are compatible with LSZH/LSHF cables.
  • Lubricant residue itself is low-smoke halogen-free.
  • Lubricant residue is as non-combustible as fire-resistant cable.
  • Lubricant must offer high-performance friction reduction.
Polywater LZ meets these criteria, and is now commercially available.   There is also a winter-grade version, Polywater WLZ (with a longer 3-day lead time).   The LZ marketing strategy is simple: ask every engineer or project manager you talk to whether or not they're installing LSZH cable in any of their jobs.   If you don't ask, you'll probably never know.   Most people are blissfully unaware of the incompatibility issue of lubricant on LSZH cable, and thus won't mention LSZH use in their projects when discussing lubricant specification.   If their answer is no, sell Polywater J.   If it's yes, sell Polywater LZ.

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
Word Play.   Rearranging the letters in certain words often results in interesting redefinitions.   Consider these examples.   When rearranged ... 1) DORMITORY becomes "dirty room."   2) PRESBYTERIAN becomes "best in prayer."   3) ASTRONOMER becomes "moon starer."   4) DESPERATION becomes "a rope ends it."   5) THE EYES becomes "they see."   6) GEORGE BUSH becomes "he bugs Gore."   7) THE MORSE CODE becomes "here come dots."   8) SLOT MACHINES becomes "cash lost in me."   9) ANIMOSITY becomes "is no amity."   10) ELECTION RESULTS becomes "lies, let's recount."   11) SNOOZE ALARMS becomes "Alas! No more Z's."   12) A DECIMAL POINT becomes "I'm a dot in place."   13) THE EARTHQUAKES becomes "that queer shake."   14) ELEVEN PLUS TWO becomes "twelve plus one."   15) MOTHER-IN-LAW becomes "woman Hitler."   And a couple of our own creation ...   16) OLD YELLOW becomes "lowly lode."   17) A POLYWATER SPY becomes "el way top spray" (a little Spanish lingo there).
