The consecration of Steve Scudder.
The consecration of Steve Scudder
Every once in a great while the clouds part and the hand of the deity descends from on high to consecrate some deserving soul.   This time it was Steve Scudder's turn.   Yep, APC's telco sales guy played a role in the creation ... of SqueekyKleen, that is.   After its development the product was submitted to numerous cable manufacturers for testing and approval.   The first response is in and, folks, it just doesn't get any better than this.   A manufacturer with major market share (Corning Cable Systems) has enthusiastically endorsed our product while quoting specific test methodology and results.   Plus they threw some lightning bolts at the entrenched competitor (D'gel®).   The combination of this approval and the "squeaky video" introduced in Issue #473 puts Steve on the proverbial mission from god, seeking converts to SqueekyKleen.   Go forth ye disciples of Steve and multiply your sales by using sample wipes to anoint as many cables as possible.   And, hey, check out that six-pack on Scudder.

SqueekyKleen™ has been approved for use with Corning Cable Systems OSP cables.
Read it now in all its magnificent glory:   From Gerry Harvey, Senior Project Manager at Corning Cable Systems: "SqueekyKleen has been approved for use with Corning Cable Systems OSP cables.   This cleaner has passed our internal tests for our cables and is safe to use on our fiber.   SqueekyKleen has been used by our service people in the field with positive results.   Here is an excerpt from one of our field engineers who evaluated the product: 'SqueekyKleen Evaluation: Polywater's SqueekyKleen communications wipe was compared to PT Technologies' D'gel® wipes.   A 432 gel-filled single-tube ribbon cable was accessed and a 2-foot section was cleaned with SqueekyKleen while another 2-foot section was cleaned with D'gel.   SqueekyKleen claims to need no alcohol, which I found to be true.   After the extra gel was cleaned off, a piece of the SqueekyKleen wipe was used to clean each ribbon.   It took three wipes to clean one two-foot section of ribbon.   On the first wipe the ribbon squeaked and noticeably gripped the ribbon.   There was no need for alcohol because there was no residue left after the SqueekyKleen dried.   For the other section cleaned with D'gel, it took three wipes with the D'gel wipe and then another two wipes with an alcohol-soaked Kimwipe® to clean the ribbon.   Not until the alcohol was used did the ribbon squeak.   SqueekyKleen works well, it needs no alcohol, and cable can be cleaned quicker because it cuts out the step of using alcohol to clean the D'gel residue off.   I look forward to our teams working with this innovation in cable cleaning process.'   Kind regards,   Gerry J. Harvey, Corning Cable Systems"   Amen.   Locate this Approval online when needed.

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
Idiots.   1) A woman called the poison control center very upset because she'd caught her little daughter eating ants.   She was quickly assured that the ants weren't harmful and there was no need to bring her daughter into the hospital.   She calmed down and at the end of the conversation happened to mention that she'd given her daughter some ant poison to eat in order to kill the ants.   She was told that she'd better bring her daughter to the hospital after all.   2) Some Boeing employees on the airfield decided to steal a life raft from one of the 747s.   They were successful in getting it out of the plane and home.   Shortly after they took it for a float on the river, they noticed a Coast Guard helicopter approaching.   It turned out that the chopper was homing in on the emergency locator beacon that activated when the raft was inflated.   They are no longer employed at Boeing.
