A Weekly Summary of Polywater® News of Incredible Importance
Issue #449

Ideal Industries raises prices. Polywater Lubricants are now a better value than ever.
Ideal Price Hike
Good news.   Ideal Industries implemented a significant price increase on lubes in 2007.   In historical terms the increase is huge, reflecting the intense cost pressures all lubricant manufacturers have been under for the past two years.   Percentages vary by package.   Here are the ranges by type:
  • Yellow® 77 up 12.4% - 12.6%
  • Yellow® 77 Plus up 10.3% - 10.4%
  • ClearGlide up 10.3% - 12.8%
  • Aqua-Gel® II and IIP up 10.3 - 16.3%
  • Aqua-Gel® CW up 12.5% to 18.5%
  • Velocity Lube prices unknown.   Has anyone seen a price?
On average, Ideal's price hikes in recent years were larger and more frequent than APC's.   Polywater® Lubricants have never been a better value in relation to Ideal's than right now.   Let's make hay.

BonDuit passes seal strength testing on PEX, CPVC, ABS, and poly
BonDuit® Testing
Current BonDuit Conduit Adhesive literature touts bond strength to HDPE, steel aluminum, and fiberglass.   But new testing shows that BonDuit also has good adhesion to other materials, such as PEX, CPVC, ABS and polypropylene.   Bonduit has good or better adhesion to these compounds compared to HDPE to PVC.   Nylon and polycarbonate have yet to be tested, but similar adhesion is expected on these as well.   PEX is cross-linked polyethylene (same material as XLPE jacket).   Its flexibility and strength at temperatures ranging from below freezing up to 200°F make it an ideal piping material for hot and cold water plumbing systems, hydronic radiant heating systems, snow melting applications, and ice rinks and refrigeration warehouses.   CPVC is chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (chlorinated PVC).   It's a thermoplastic pipe and fitting material made to meet the requirements of ASTM Class 23447.   Applications include potable water distribution, corrosive fluid handling in industry, and fire suppression systems.   ABS is a thermoplastic resin called Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene.   ABS pipe and fittings systems are used in oil fields and the chemical industry.   BonDuit is extraordinarily versatile.   Be on the lookout for these and other opportunities.
