Steve Scudder joins APC as its Communications Market Sales Manager.
Steve Scudder
APC is pleased to announce the addition of Steve Scudder to its sales staff as Communications Market Sales Manager.   Steve will have national responsibility for all aspects of the communications market.   This will be made easier by his central location in Davis City, IA, a small town just north of the Missouri border.   In Minnesota he is known as an "Iowegian."   Steve began his education in communications in the U.S. Army, where he once participated as a paratrooper in the top-secret "Earth-Scraping Project" (a good story).   He has worked for various telcom construction firms as a cable splicer and trainer.   His market familiarity and field experience combined with his personable, down-to-earth manner make him a perfect fit for the position.   Steve actually began employment with APC way back on January 1, 2007, but has been concealed at an undisclosed location while his brain was stuffed with Polywater product knowledge.   Steve is now reprogrammed and ready for deployment.   He'll be contacting communications agencies shortly.

A worthy new application and selling feature for FST Foam Duct Sealant
In the old days thieves generally broke into homes to steal electronics.   In today's world of high copper commodity prices, they're just as likely to stay outdoors and steal the cable supplying juice to those electronics.   But APC may be able to help reduce such crime.   On a recent trip to Las Vegas, Jeff Ericson and Pete Marzahl (of Electrical Sales Professionals) listened to a story of woe about the many cables being cut on each end of conduits and pulled out by thieves.   This is an especially big concern for the City due to traffic disruption and the replacement cost of stolen copper control cable.   Jeff and Pete suggested to the client that it might be a good idea to inject FST Foam Duct Sealant into each end of a duct to lock cables in place and prevent them from being pulled out.   This is a worthy new application and selling feature for FST.   The more foam injected into the duct increases the pull-out resistance--perhaps producing more holding power than a couple of brawny meatheads.   Remember that thieves are generally thieves because they're too lazy to keep a day job; anything you can do to slow them down and make their heist more difficult increases the chance they'll go elsewhere--maybe even to the employment office!

The Friday Fax Editor's Joke of the Week
The Joke
They Walk Among Us Again.   1) My colleague and I were eating our lunch in our cafeteria when we overheard one of the administrative assistants talking about the sunburn she got on her weekend drive to the shore.   She drove down in a convertible, but "didn't think she'd get sunburned because the car was moving."   2) My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car.   It's designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped.   She keeps it in the trunk.   3) I was hanging out with a friend when we saw a woman with a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain.   My friend said, "Wouldn't the chain rip out every time she turned her head?"   I explained that a person's nose and ear remain the same distance apart no matter which way the head is turned.   4) I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area, so I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up.   She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands.   "Now," she asked me, "has your plane arrived yet?"   5) While working at a pizza parlor I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go.   He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into four pieces or six.   He thought about it for some time before responding.   "Just cut it into four pieces.   I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat six pieces."
