So-called "canned foams" are inexpensive, convenient, and versatile products.   However, the nature of these aerosol foams--intended for insulation and void filling--makes them unsuitable for sealing telcom conduits.   Typically, canned foams are open-cell foams.   They foam up quickly, but many of the bubbles burst as the foam cures, or burst later under pressure from water or gas infiltrating a duct.   These open cells weaken the structure of the foam and allow water and gases to weave their way through, eventually negating any duct sealing effect.   Isn't there an effective duct seal foam product available that does hold water and gas? |                               |

                              | Introducing the new FST-250, a multi-use package option for Polywater® FST Foam Duct Sealant.   FST is a high-performance, closed-cell foam.   The two-part base is mixed in equal parts when pushed through the mixing nozzle, expanding and hardening to a robust seal that keeps water, gases, acids, greases, insects, rodents, and copper thieves out of plastic, metal, and concrete conduits.   The FST-250 contains 250 ml (8.5 fluid ounces) of FST Foam in a caulking-gun-style cartridge.   The ratchet tool required for dispensing (high-ratio caulking gun) is inexpensive and readily available.   Many customers already own one for other purposes: RTV silicone, firestop, etc.   We also offer one (catalog #TOOL-250).   Note that the more popular FST-250 replaces the earlier FST-180 cartridge.   Now customers have a viable duct sealing option.   FST-250 cartridges are available separately or in kit form with gloves, damming material, positioning rods, etc.

We emphasize that the recommended caulking gun isn't the $2 variety. Beefier high-ratio tools work best for regular use.   Cheaper tools may suffice for low-volume usage, but dispensing foam through the restriction of the mixing nozzle requires exertion that over time may frustrate installers, and can cause tool failure.   Click the image at right for a short YouTube video demonstration of the FST-250 in a clear conduit.   Additional support materials include:
